“The Harcourt Valley winds through the lurching granite hills of Central Victoria and over the years I’ve returned again and again to walk, sketch, take photos and paint. The changing seasons from the lush winter and spring grasses to the bleached harsh light of summer provide an inspiring backdrop.”

"Bob's Paddock is a series of works first exhibited in the Castlemaine State Festival paying respect and homage to the late Australian artist Robert Jacks who lived in the Harcourt Valley in the shadow of Mount Alexander / Leanganook. Bob loved the sensual and interpreted music, food and wine through a prism of hard edged, geometric abstraction. That he lived amongst the wild chaos of the valley with its massive boulders and tumble of forest makes his work all the more remarkable for its clean, sophisticated lines. I guess I just wanted to play with the chaos!"

Michael has exhibited widely in Australia and internationally and his work is included in public, corporate and private collections.
